And so the 2017 Z4 tour has drawn to a close.
Not for the first time, with bad weather throughout elsewhere across the country, the Falcons were treated to some marvellous weather and some special courses.
Without a doubt, the Falcons shall return to Llandudno (but perhaps not to Penmaenmawr!).
North Wales and Conwy were flat links style courses on either side of the Conwy estuary with Measdu slightly higher up-and all justifying their high rating amongst golf courses in Wales and the UK.
Mark Stevens performed well on his debut, also showing off his student card in which he impersonated Che Guevara-hence his new Falcons handle-without achieving the desired student discount!
Dai the Dart and The Ref demonstrated impressive map reading skills taking in Porthmadog and Anglesey on the way up!!
The Annan Hotel was perfectly suited our needs, with welcoming staff, an honesty bar and precious parking spaces, and conveniently situated for a wander to the promenade or the town, or for a trip up the Great Orme by tram as ventured on the Tuesday morning.
Another convenient venue was the Cottage Loaf Pub,sure to be a good starting point when we return.
In all 4 players took advantage of the new “2”s rule, while Dr La Toe caused the Captain to invoke a new Exceptional Shot Reduction ruling following 2 scores of 39 within 3 days (the first at least coming in an official Llanishen competition the day before the tour)!
But congratulations go to both Dai the Dart and Dr La Toe for staging a titanic struggle befitting a Falcons final round, both hitting 34 on one of the finest courses in Wales, and especially to Dr La Toe, the 2017 Falcons Z4 Tour Champion.
We shall return, but for the 2018 Tour, your Captain is already starting to look at options to return to Shropshire when Dr La Toe will have the chance to defend his title with a shot reduction all tour.
